Heal Your Left SI Joint Pain (just like I fixed mine, for good)

Surprised (because they have already seen so many practitioners without relief) and satisfied (because they have much less pain in a very short period of time) patients often ask me how I got into PRI. I got into PRI because it healed the SI joint pain that I had for years with one session of one exercise. Thus I instantly become a surprised and satisfied patient myself. I had left SIJ pain from a hard fall onto my left butt for at least 5 years prior to that moment. As a PT, I was not able to eliminate my own pain (embarrassing), in addition, the experienced and prestigious PT's that I worked with at the time were also unable to fix my SI joint (disappointing). By happenstance, I took the Myokinematic Restoration PRI class as part of ongoing continuing education requirements. That morning I was instructed in and practiced the non manual PRI technique called Side Lying Scissor Slides. I went for a run at lunch and for the first time in years, I ran without SI joint pain. Lightbulbs exploded in my mind and I went back to class all ears. I now understand that from the fall, my left ilium had remained tipped forward putting a tremendous strain on the piriformis that would then in turn often pinch my sciatic nerve leading to frequent and sharp pain in my SI joint and pain that radiated down into the back of my left leg. Sitting was almost impossible. The 5 hour drive to my parents' house was misery. Simply using my left ischiocondylar adductors to pull my left ilium back into neutral alignment eliminated all my pain. For good.

If you have left SI joint pain, left piriformis pain, left sciatica, or frequent right groin pulls, this is the exercise for you. So grab a matt, find a comfortable place on the floor and let's get started. The exercise instruction begins at minute 2:42.

Side Lying Respiratory Scissor Slides

Complete four rounds of three breaths daily until pain is eliminated. I have attached a PDF of this exercise below.

Be well, Brenda
